About the Program


The IA-100 program involves design and manufacturing of a demonstration aircraft to be used as the basis for the design and manufacturing in FAdeA S.A. of the future primary trainer for the Armed Forces and commercial industry.

The main aim is to provide an aircraft to demonstrate current FAdeA capacity and technologies, which can be used as the basis for the design of a modern aircraft to cover primary training needs for both the Armed Forces and commercial aircraft industry, as well as produce an aircraft suitable for export. Manufacturing of such aircraft will improve composite material capacity and resources in FAdeA which started with the KC-390 program experience. It will generate a network of suppliers in Argentina that can later provide to other programs such as IA-63 or IA-73.

The IA-100 FAR23 Acrobatic model will allow the Armed Forces complete their primary training as planned (40 flight hours) with purchase, maintenance and operational costs lower than with the current GROB 120TP and Tucano, leaving these last two aircraft for basic and primary training.

Program objetives


The design and manufacturing of this aircraft will:

  1. Meet market demand with a product and product support required by the region.
  2. Restore Argentine aeronautical engineering capacity to design, manufacture and provide operational support to an aircraft. This restored capacity is essential to participate as partner in future aeronautical business relations with other aircraft manufacturers o suppliers.
  3. Set up a network of suppliers in Argentina led by FAdeA as leader of the Aeronautical industry in the country.

In particular in phase I, the program objectives are:

  • Design and manufacture a TECHNOLOGY DEMOSTRATOR, as the basis for the design and manufacturing of an elementary trainer for the Armed Forces and commercial aviation industry.
  • Consolidate a design team to manage aeronautical and system engineering technologies and program support.
  • Manufacturing of the first elementary trainer made of composite material, designed in country as per FAR-23 standards (initially certified as elementary FAR-21, with the objective of achieving FAR-23 certification acrobatic/ regular for serial production)
  • Encourage composite material technologies, in both design and manufacturing.
